Job Description
***Head Sailing Instructor***
Columbia Sailing Club, located in Columbia, SC is seeking an experienced Head Instructor to lead a staff of 5 sailing instructors and volunteers this summer. Our program is open to ages 7 through 17. We offer traditional learn to sail classes for beginner and intermediate skill levels, Adventure Sailing classes along with a Learn to Race classes. Classes are taught on Optimist, Open Bic, C420 and a mix of keelboats. Applicants should be experienced sailors, who are self-motivated, independent, hardworking, enthusiastic, competent, reliable, and able to work well with others. You should be able to maintain a safe environment at all times, communicate and execute effective lesson plans and have a genuine passion for sailing and working with kids. The head instructor will oversee the junior sailing program. In addition to teaching sailing and managing a staff of 5 instructors and volunteers, you will keep both the powerboats and training boats maintained. In addition to a competitive salary (commensurate with experience), housing will be provided for non-local instructors spending the summer with us.

***Summer Sailing Instructors***
Columbia Sailing Club is currently seeking experienced, dedicated, unique and hard-working individuals to our 2019 junior summer program. Our program offers one-week full day (9am-5pm) sessions for traditional learn to sail classes for beginner and intermediate skill levels, Adventure Sailing along with a Learn to Race classes. Classes are taught on Optimist, Open Bic, C420 and a mix of keelboats. Applicants should be experienced sailors, who are self-motivated, independent, hardworking, enthusiastic, competent, reliable, and able to work well with others. You should be able to maintain a safe environment at all times, communicate and execute effective lesson plans and have a genuine passion for sailing and working with kids. In addition to a competitive salary (commensurate with experience), housing will be provided for non-local instructors spending the summer with us.

***Optimist/Open Bic Race Coach***
Columbia Sailing Club is seeking experienced Optimist/Open Bic coach to work with our Junior Race team. The Junior Race team is made of approximately 10 -15 sailors committed to training and racing in local and regional regattas. The coach will be responsible for running practice during the week and traveling to regattas to coach the team; some logistical support will be required. When not coaching the Race Team, you would assist in other Learn to Sail classes ongoing at Columbia Sailing Club.

Columbia Sailing Club also offers adult sailing including Women on the Water, private lessons and more. This a great way to earn more money!

Job Requirements
- Experience teaching beginners the basics of sailing in Optimist and C420.
- Excellent communication skills with both parents & sailors!
- Patience towards sailors, make if fun!
- Must be safety oriented
- Excellent powerboating and sailing skills
- Motivated & Enthusiastic
- Team Player
- US Sailing Level 1 or higher certified
- Current CPR and First Aid
- Pass a background check
