Job Description
The Edgartown Yacht Club (EYC) is a private, not for profit, seasonal club founded in 1905, located on the Island of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. The Club has occupied its current waterfront location since 1928 and has a strong sailing tradition and history. The EYC is seeking Race Coaches and Instructors for the summer of 2020. Our program caters to over 200 junior sailors each summer who range from 8 to 18 years of age. The Juniors are taught in Optis/Oppis, 420s, Rhodes 19s, RS Quests, and J-70s, and their ability ranges from beginner sailors to competitive racers. The sailing program is well supported by the club, with a separate waterfront Sailing Center across the harbor on the island of Chappaquiddick where the majority of our junior classes are taught. As an instructor you will be responsible for teaching and assisting in sailing classes. Benefits include meals while on duty, a potential performance bonus at the end of the season, the option to make additional income through private lessons and provided housing for the right applicant. This is an excellent opportunity to spend an incredible summer on Martha's Vineyard! Applicants can apply through Sail1Design or by contacting the Sailing Director, David Thompson, directly with a resume at sailing_director@edgartownyc.org
Job Requirements
Applicants must possess US Sailing's Level 1 instructor certification with valid CPR and First Aid certifications. In addition to sailing knowledge and experience, we are looking for enthusiastic, organized and team-oriented instructors. Ideal candidates will have a history of sail instruction.
