Portland Yacht Club, Falmouth, Maine, seeks 420 Race Coach and Sailing Coaches
Coach orientation begins June 17 (5 days) and post season wrap up August 17. Sailing Instruction begins June 24 and runs through August 16, 2019. Classes are structured in 4 separate two-week sessions. PYC’s well-designed curriculum guides coaches while offering opportunity for innovations in instruction. Competitive salaries are offered and based on experience.

PYC is one of the most prestigious and successful racing clubs in the Northeast, having provided Jr. Sailing programs since 1950. Just a short drive from downtown Portland and with numerous after work racing opportunities in Etchells, J24's and PHRF. PYC provides a great summer work environment!

Job Requirements
Ideal Candidates should possess:

• US Sailing Level 1 Certification (CPR/First Aid can be renewed during orientation week) We are offering USSA Level 1 course May 24-27, 2019
• Energy, enthusiasm and patience to work with kids
• Communication skills and patience to work with parents
• Ability to instill good practice habits and Corinthian spirit in sailors
• Set example in behavior, language, and dress for young sailors
• Understand and accept responsibility for maintenance of assigned coach boat, motor, and equipment
• Exceptional Opti and/or 420 boat-handling skills
• Organizational/lesson planning skills
• Engaging ability to run lessons and debriefs
• Fun attitude/love of sailing
• Race training is not part of the job, but racing experience is helpful
• College sailing preferred
• Prior coaching experience
