Job Description
The Assistant Sailing Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Sailing Coach with all facets of the Sailing Program. This includes on the water coaching, facilitating practice/training, providing sailing instruction, boat/fleet maintenance and promoting the varsity sailing program.

Essential Functions
● Boat/Fleet maintenance
● Booking team travel
● Managing spring break regatta rentals in coordination with the Head Sailing Coach
● Traveling to away regattas that consider budget and restrictions such as missed class time
● Travel duties include the instruction, supervision, safety and general welfare of the student-athletes
under his/her care
● He/She also assists the Head Coach in the recruiting process in conjunction with all SAISA, ICSA, and
Eckerd College rules and regulations
● Manage work scholars
● Coordinate all on campus athletics concessions; including ordering, inventory and stocking of Turley
and McArthur
● Work as a game manager for home contests as assigned but the Assistant AD
● Works in conjunction with all athletics department personnel in serving the mission of the college to
provide excellent, innovative undergraduate liberal arts education and lifelong learning programs in the unique
Florida environment
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required
● Valid driver’s license
● Valid FL boating license
● Minimum US Sailing Level 1 instructor certification
● Must be available to travel with the team as specified by team schedule
● Experience with team racing and knowledge of racing rules
● Prior coaching and/or sailing experience at the high school or college level are required
● Experience with boat/fleet maintenance
● Must be able to lift 25lbs
