Job Description
Youth Sailing Foundation of Indian River County is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization offering free sailing instruction to the children of Indian River County. YSF offers a high quality junior program to over 150 sailors on the Indian River Lagoon. We provide Beginner, Intermediate, Racing, and Adventure sailing programs for sailors ranging 9-18 in age. Our lagoon offers a variety of conditions perfect for all levels. Spoil islands along the lagoon create wind shadows that allow us to safely set up sailing courses for beginner sailors in all wind ranges, and the perfect fetch to get our racers out in the heavy and challenging winds. Our racers regularly compete in the Florida East Coast Series, giving them the ability to compete against local competition once a month. Our location is very close to US Sailing Center of Martin County exposing sailors to high levels of competition regularly, and we travel as far as Miami and Sarasota, giving us a convenient racing environment. Our fleet consists of 19 C420s, 30 wooden Optis for training, 8 glass racing optis, Lasers, Sunfish, Force 5, and Mariners.
In addition to the youth programs offered here at YSF, we also offer an adaptive sailing program with a special fleet of boats, sailors in the adaptive program will travel as far as St. Petersburg to compete. We also offer our programs at cost to adult sailors interested in learning the skill of sailing, or better improve upon their knowledge, which directly supports our youth programs.

Founded in 2009, Youth Sailing Foundation of Indian River County, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501c(3) organization offering free sailing instruction to the children of Indian River County. We believe sailing is an adventure for a lifetime. While learning to sail children learn life skills that will endure. Sailing challenges and builds confidence by taking children outdoors, out of their comfort zone, and into a world of wind and water. They learn to rig and pilot their own sailboats on the beautiful Indian River Lagoon in Vero Beach. YSF’s success is measured in the competence, discipline, responsibility and leadership skills that blossom in our students. All of this is also available to adults who join our rapidly growing adult classes in larger sailboats.
