Job Description
Now is your chance to spend the summer on the coast of Maine. Castine Yacht Club in Castine, Maine founded in the 1940s is seeking a Head Sailing Instructor to oversee their 2019 Summer Program. With its strong membership and community of all ages, CYC is home to a vibrant sailing program for children ages 6-17 as well as a dedicated adult sailing community. Castine sits at the intersection of the Bagaduce River and Penobscot Bay, and the Yacht Club–with a view and island access that cannot be beat–has a fleet of boats from Turnabouts to Colgates and 420s.

The ideal candidate has had experience managing people, and working with children. Applicants must have a strong work ethic and be prepared to teach a wide spectrum of boating and sailing skills, as well as help develop and maintain a sailing curriculum and oversee junior instructors implementation of the curriculum across classes.

Job Requirements
Daily tasks include overseeing staff of 4-5 instructors, maintaining class rosters, coordinating weekly and daily activities and curriculums (ensuring other staff execute accordingly), and working with part-time admin on summer event management, tuition, billing and program expenses. Applicants not chosen for the Head Instructor position may be offered a Senior Instructor position. Position runs from June 17 – August 24 with some flexibility if discussed in advance. Pay commensurate to experience. Requirements: References, US Sailing Level 1 and Red Cross First Aid/CPR certified (or equivalent).
