Job Description
Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club, located in Branford, CT offers slips and moorings for seasonal use to its membership. The facility can accommodate boats up to 60’. The Club offers fuel, ice and basic supplies for sales to the membership and transients. The marina facility includes over 100 slips for seasonal use in addition to 26 moorings. Throughout the season empty slips/moorings are available for transient vessel use.
The marina is staffed seven days a week from May through Labor Day from 8AM—sunset. After Labor Day to the end of October the marina is staffed from noon—sunset Tuesday-Friday and 8AM—sunset Saturday and Sunday. The marina is not staffed on Mondays after Labor Day to the end of October.
The marina is closed November through April except by permission.
Position Overview

• The Dock Master oversees all marina operations including staffing, training, upkeep, slip/mooring agreements, fuel dock, and fuel supply. The primary responsibility is the safety and security of the club members, their guests, vessels and the waterfront facility. The Dock Master will act as the “face” of the marina and is expected to present and available during high volume hours. They should provide the highest level of service while acting in accordance with the club’s standard operating policies and represent POYCC in a professional manner at all times.
• Position is seasonal from mid-April to mid-November
Job Requirements
• It is expected that candidates possess a positive attitude combined, ability to communicate well and maintain familiarity with marine operations. The dock master should be well organized and the have skills to execute the tasks given by the Harbor Committee and club management.
• While performing the duties of the job, the Dock Master may regularly be required to stand for extended periods, walk, kneel, climb or balance. The employee may regularly lift and/or move 50 or more pounds. While performing the duties of the job, the dock master is regularly exposed to slippery, wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes and outside weather conditions.
