Eastport Yacht Club is seeking Summer Program Manager position and class head instructors. The mission of the EYC Jr. Fleet is to provide a Learn-to-Boat program that teaches the basics of boat handling, seamanship, safety, sportsmanship, and friendships. The program strives to develop competence and confidence in our sailors in a safe and fun learning environment to develop boaters for life! We teach progressive skill levels from beginner to advanced in each fleet (age, size compatible), and 'bay cruiser' sessions. No travel is required. EYC runs a 9 week summer program, fall/spring high school sailing, powerboat, adult, J22 team/match race team, and member access program. Evening and weekend private coaching opportunities available. And, plenty of opportunity to sail in Annapolis' local summer evening and weekend race series! Our well maintained fleet consists of 4 New/Fevas, 6/Sunfish, 8/Optis, 2 Mistral Windgliders, 3 J22s, 6/Kayaks, 10/Paddleboards and Whaler 17', 15', 13', Zodiac 12' HB. Candidates must be motivated, energetic, team players and enjoy working with kids and adults. Start *June 1/Director (or even May), June 10 (Instructor Week), Summer Program June 17 - Aug 9, and additional Community Outreach week Aug 12-16.

Assist Waterfront Manager for program administration (i.e. online registrations, registration records, parent checklists and communications) to deliver safe, fun and successful programs
Assist with curriculum development to incorporate environmental education, games, prizes, and fun!
Assist with class and staff scheduling and supervision.
Give guidance and be role model to help staff develop effective instructional techniques
Act as primary contact and liaison for staff, parents, and sailors
Oversee fleet maintenance and maintain fleet log (power, sail, paddle).
Part of on and off-water instructor staff for children and adult classes.
Dinghy and keelboat experience, strong powerboat handling and environmental education a plus.
Knowledge and use of word-processing, data base, excel spreadsheets, and online registration software programs.
Instructors must be a minimum of 18 yrs. old, have prior teaching experience working with kids, strong dinghy sailing, paddling and powerboat experience. J22 experience, adult sailing and environmental education a plus.
All Candidates must have current US Sailing Level 1, CPR, First Aid, Safe Sport, and pass criminal background check (EYC will arrange and pay for background check) by start of classes. No weekend travel. Pay rate commensurate with experience. Housing available.

Learn to Sail and Powerboat the Fun Way! - The Mission of the Eastport Yacht Club Jr. Fleet is to support a Learn-to-Sail and Learn-to-Boat program that teaches student the basics of boat handling, seamanship, safety, and sportsmanship. The program strives to develop competence and confidence in our sailors in a safe and fun learning environment.
EYC offers sailing lessons to kids ages 6-15 and adults 16 and up. US Sailing Certified instructors with First Aid and CPR training teach all classes. The EYC program emphasizes safety, learning, and foremost FUN, by teaching sailing, seamanship, navigational skills, plus an introduction to racing. Our program helps participants develop self-reliance, self-regulation, sportsmanship, knowledge and respect for the environment while ensuring boating safety awareness. With a combination of classroom and on the- water time, classes are designed to teach the basic skills of sailing and boating to beginners and to help hone the skills of more advanced students. The EYC Learn-to-Sail and Boat Program uses the following types of boats: Optimist, Sunfish, Club FJ, J-22, kayak, paddleboard, and Boston whaler.
