Job Description
The New Bedford Yacht Club in South Dartmouth, MA is hiring an experienced Head Sailing Instructor/ Asst. Program Director for the summer of 2019. The Head Instructor/ Asst Program Director will be responsible for the daily on land and on water instruction of the over 200 sailors in the New Bedford Yacht Club Program. The position will include managing a staff of over 20 junior and senior instructors, and ensuring that the NBYC fleet of power and sailboats is in good working order. Safety is the primary concern on the NBYC program and the Head Instructor/ Asst. Program Director will help ensure that all classes are run in a safe environment. Lessons take place Monday – Friday from 830AM to 430PM.. The NBYC Sailing School has 30 Optis, 21 420’s, 6 O’Pen Bic’s, 6 Lasers, 7 Sonars, kayaks, paddleboards and windsurfers.

The Head Instructor/ Asst. Program Director should be passionate about the sport of sailing and have a great work ethic. The Head Instructor/ Asst. Program director should also have excellent communication skills and be able to answer parent questions and concerns in a timely and friendly manner.

A competitive salary is offered for this position. The ideal candidate will hopefully want to become the program director in 2020.
Job Requirements
A strong background in sailing, coaching, and understanding safety practices is essential. Candidates should be at least a qualified Level 1 instructor or equivalent. A college degree is preferred, but not required.
