Job Description
Come spend your summer in the beautiful state of Maine (Midcoast near Camden) on one of the cleanest lakes there is in the state. Twenty minutes from the coast and pristine beaches Alford Lake is one of the oldest camp's in the world, celebrating its 113th summer.

Alford Lake is a place of respect, fun, warmth, empowerment, team work, appreciation and good ole hard work! While our focus is on the campers our staff is equally important to us. How you feel about your job impacts your effect on our campers and other staff. We strive to work together to create a healthy community of inclusiveness, care and concern for others.

As the Head of Sailing your sailing duties will include but are not limited to: managing a staff of 4-6 counselors (this may include Senior Counselor Trainees) including weekly reviews, getting boats (JY 14s & Widgeons) stepped and ready and dropping moorings, do any routine maintenance required on boats, teaching campers of all skill levels ages 8-15, completing all necessary paperwork, putting the department to 'bed' at the end of the summer. Of course we all help with the running of camp and so there will be other things that you might be asked to help out with i.e. helping to make sandwiches for Sunday picnic lunches, overseeing the Dining Room clean-up. We all help make camp work!

We will assume that if you decide to apply for this position that you understand you will be working with children and living in a community (of awesome people!). One other thing to remember is that depending on your college (if you are in college) we can work with your advisor to consider this job an Internship and you may earn college credits (as long as it fits with whatever major you have chosen).

Knowledge of small sailboats, maintenance of boats, running a small Boston Whaler and Life Guard Training.
