The Head Race Team Coach is a new position at The WaterFront Center and is a tremendous opportunity to build and shape a team from the ground up.

• Lead and develop a highly competitive youth race team
• Interact and speak with customers
• Complete understanding of all WFC offerings
• Identify and assist or lead in the maintenance of all sail and power boats

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Junor Race Team
a. Primary responsibility is the Optimist Race Team but may also include: 420, Big Boat and High School Teams
b. Travel to regattas as coach and assist with organization
c. Assist the Sailing Director to design curriculum for junior sailors
d. Communicate with sailors and parents, including team and parent meetings

2. Fleet Responsibilities
a. Alongside the Sailing Director and Waterfront Coordinator assist in the maintenance of all sail and coach boats
b. Readying both sail and coach boats for transportation to regattas as necessary

3. General
a. Assist in the organization and day of logistics for any sailing regatta hosted or in part by the WFC
b. Attend all special events (Benefit Party, Benefit Regatta, Bay Day, Open Houses, etc.)
c. Assist in organizing and scheduling junior volunteers

Ideal Candidate Possesses
• Advanced Optimist/420 Coaching and Class Association experience
• High-level Dinghy Racing Experience
• US Sailing Level 2 Instructor Certified
• NYS Boater’s License, or equivalent
• EMT Certification
• Captain’s License
