Job Description
This is a seven week position beginning July 1, 2019 and ending August 16, 2019
Wet Pants Sailing Association is located on the shore of Great South Bay in Sayville, NY on Long Island

The Head Sailing Instructor creates and implements sailing instruction programs that are fun and train students to be safe and independent sailors. He/she must be able to teach these skills in sailboats with students and/or instructors. He/she guides the instructors as they develop their teaching skills and encourages them to perfect their delivery of instruction in a fun way that encourages their students to become better sailors. At all times the head instructor maintains fun and positive relations with the sailing staff while making sure they stay on task.

Students must be treated with respect and courtesy at all times. Students range from 8 to 16 years in age and have skill levels varying from beginner to advanced. Some sail casually while others sail competitively. Most instruction takes place on the water, but in times of inclement weather classroom instruction on age appropriate sailing topics will be required.

The head instructor oversees a staff of instructors. Instruction takes place at the club Monday to Thursday from 8 AM to 4 PM with an hour off for lunch. Supervision and coaching will be required at junior regattas on Fridays.
