Job Description
We offer:
• Seasonal employment from June 11 – August 10, 2018

Responsibilities include:
- Sailing instruction in Optimist, Topaz and C420 for children from beginning to
advanced levels (ages 8-14)
- Physically assist students in launching, rigging and storing boats
- Be a responsible, reliable, enthusiastic sailor and instructor with good judgment and
leadership skills
- Take responsibility for ensuring a safe, organized, and educational waterfront and fleet
- Perform seamanship tasks to include keeping boats, equipment, and storage facility in
good repair, clean and neat
- Ensure preparation, planning and daily review and documentation of program
- Instruct, evaluate and document improvement in sailing skills of all ETYSA students
- Operate in a beach environment daily
- Other duties and responsibilities deemed necessary to meet the objectives of the
sailing school and as assigned by the Director.

About us:
The Edward Teach Youth Sailing Association (ETYSA) operates as a non-profit in
conjunction with Blackbeard Sailing Club in New Bern NC. Blackbeard is located on
Broad Creek just off the Neuse River a couple of miles downstream from the city of
New Bern. This is sailboat only facility. The classes are small, the environment
friendly, the parents are helpful.

Job Requirements
- Certified US Sailing Level 1 Instructor or equivalent (including First Aid/CPR)
- Background and experience in sailing
- Knowledge of Optimist, and C420 (or similar) rigging and sailing
- Work well with children ages 8 to 14
- Possess North Carolina or other state / equivalent Safe Boating Certification
- Previous experiences in instructing/coaching in summer camps
- Commitment to teaching youth
- Self-motivated team player
