Job Description
The Outer Banks Community Sailing Program is looking for instructors for the 2019 summer season and beyond. We are located in Manteo, NC on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. In addition to sailing the Outer Banks is great for surfing, fishing, kite boarding, or just about any outdoor activity.

Our sailing fleet consist of Optis, 420’s, and Sunfish. We have two RIBS for safety/instructor boats. Our instructors work independently under direction of the head instructor, have a great time, and shape the program and our sailors.

The focus of our program is teaching kids to sail. We also offer an Opti and 420 race week and host an annual one-design regatta in July.

Instructors are expected to prepare lesson plans and teach effectively, compassionately and enthusiastically; work together in a fun, supportive environment; address needs of the different levels and differentiate instruction of our sailors; and work with novice and intermediate sailors.

Job Requirements
• Experience teaching or leading children
• US Sailing certification or equivalent
• 1 + years experience as a sailing instructor preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to adapt to changing program needs depending on changes in weather, number of students, number of boats, etc.
• North Carolina, or equivalent, safe boating course
• Current CPR and First Aid
• Drivers License

The program runs from June 17th through August 2nd with a week prior and after the program for set-up/ orientation and take-down. Compensation is based on experience and private lesson opportunities exist.
