Race Director/Keelboat instructor is in charge of volunteer race committee, serves as PRO for Wednesday evening races and weekend club events. Runs markboat assisting hired PRO's for regional events held at Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club including the Junior Olympic Festival, Annual PHRF Regatta, and the J80 East Coast Championships.
Develops capacity among membership through race training. Works with advanced youth and youth instructors to develop race and race management skills. Lead instructor of US Sailing Basic Keelboat and/or Performance Keelboat Courses, and private lessons for both race and LTS (learn to sail). Provides race coaching to performance minded youth and adults in clinics and private lessons.
Overall executes development of yacht club's racing and instructional capabilities.
Compensation based on number of weeks available, demonstrated experience and skill, and quality of course delivery. Bonus compensation available. If capable and interested, let's talk and see what we can agree to.
Housing included on picturesque lake across from salt water harbor through fall. Meal assistance available. This position can develop into a year round position with housing for the right person and winter opportunities to travel or hold offsite clinics.
Join long established US Sailing Certified School and premier racing environment in mid-coast Maine. Established in 1895, Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club has its own one design, C420's, J22's, Tech Dinghies, and Optis. We have an active scholastic racing program in the spring and fall. A new sailing and education center opens in late June. We are within easy transport of Portland International Jetport and Amtrak stations.
We are looking for a stable individual that can return annually to the club, or for the right person remain largely year round. Our setting is idyllic located between a 2 mile long fresh water pond and salt water harbor that opens up to the Gulf of Maine. Abundant wildlife including ospreys, eagles, loons, seals, whales, and dolphins can be seen daily. Wonderful sailing among the islands and a club management team that is on the move to build the best sailing programs north of Marblehead.
Each year, we host two high school regattas, racing clinics, judge and race officer clinics, phrf, classic, and one design events. Hosts to J80 Fleet 14.
Knowledge and experience running races using RRS 26 and alternate 3 minute sequence for dinghy-type events. US Sailing Club Race Officer or higher Certification valuable. US Sailing Keelboat Instructor Certification preferred. US Sailing Level 2 or higher preferred. Maturity, agility, able to lift 50 lbs. Familiarity with Asym's helpful. Employment well into fall possible.

Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club is a member owned club founded in 1895 on the mid-coast of Maine. 60 miles by car north of Portland we are easy to reach by water or land. Family oriented, we offer tennis, interest groups like bridge and mah jongg, speakers, adventure sails, a full service bar, restaurant and snack bar. 2.5 acres facility we have a nine room employee house, a separate two bedroom apartment, a post office, 85 moorings and a 4000 sf club house that seats up to 120 for banquets.
Our season starts in May and runs into October. We have a US Sailing accredited Sailing Academy. Our High School sailing team competes in Spring and Fall season in NESSA and is a founding club of the Pen Bay league. Our Annual regatta is in its 44th year. Junior Programs in rowing, sailing, tennis, and golf run for ten weeks during the Summer.
With over 300 members our club is busiest during from mid June through September.
