Job Description
The Rock Hall Yacht Club Sailing School (RHYCSS) has Sailing Instructor positions open in our Sailing Program for the 2019 summer season (mid June through mid August 2019). Responsibilities include:
- Sailing instruction in Optimist, Sunfish, Laser, and C420 and other small dinghy classes for children from beginners to advanced (ages 5-18)
- Conduct adult "Start Sailing Right" classes
- Physically assist students in launching, rigging and storing boats
- Be a responsible, reliable, enthusiastic sailor and instructor with good judgment and leadership skills
- Take responsibility for ensuring a safe, organized, and educational waterfront and fleet
- Perform seamanship tasks to include keeping boats, equipment, and storage facility in good repair, clean and neat
- Ensure preparation, planning and daily review and documentation of program
- Instruct, evaluate and document improvement in sailing skills of all RHYCSS students
- Most classes are Monday through Friday with occasional weekend lessons.
- Other duties and responsibilities deemed necessary to meet the objectives of the sailing school and as assigned by the Director

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Background and experience in sailing
- Knowledge of Optimist, Laser, and C420 (or similar) rigging and sailing
- Work well with children ages 5 to 18
- Certified US Sailing Level 1 Instructor or equivalent (including First Aid/CPR)
- Possess Maryland or other state Safe Boating Certification
- Previous experiences in instructing/coaching in summer camps and commitment to teaching youth
- Self-motivated team player

Compensation is competitive, and commensurate with experience.

The Rock Hall Yacht Club Sailing School, located on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay, is a beautiful place to work and is minutes from the charming towns of Rock Hall and Chestertown, MD. A sandy beach, quiet, protected cove and swimming pool make RHYC an ideal site to teach sailing. Our sailing school program has been growing steadily for the last 16 years. Students come from around the country to participate in our classes. Our racing team travels to CBYRA (Chesapeake Bay Yacht Racing Association) Junior Regattas throughout the season. The mission of the Rock Hall Yacht Club Sailing School (RHYCSS) is to instill a lifelong love of sailing and the water in children and adults by teaching sailing skills in a structured, safe and fun environment.

RHYCSS is located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland's Chesapeake Bay just outside the lovely town of Rock Hall. The Sailing School is committed to teaching both adults and children from our community and beyond to sail and to improve their sailing and racing skills.
