Job Description
The Beverly Yacht Club is seeking applications for the positions of Opti Race Coach and 420 Race Coach for our junior sailing program for the summer of 2020. Beverly Yacht Club, established in 1872 is one of the oldest yacht clubs in operation today and has a long history of strong racing and cruising that “promote yachting and good fellowship.” The junior sailing program serves to educate sailors from age 7-18 in all aspects of sportsmanship and seamanship which we cultivate through a variety of classes from learn-to-sail to competitive racing. We are seeking qualified individuals with strong leadership skills that can bring fun and creativity to our race programs. The ideal candidate would be a safety conscious seaman (or woman) who is looking to have a great time out on the waters of Buzzards Bay this summer while passing on a love of sailing to the next generation.
Compensation competitive and commensurate with experience. Housing available to qualified candidate. Job Requirements
- Availability from mid-June to mid-August
- Ability to design and implement age appropriate curriculum
- Collegiate racing experience (or equivalent experience)
- Experience coaching and supervising sailors while traveling to and while at regattas
- Ability to foster strong teamwork among sailors
- Ability to maintain effective communication between program manager, parents and sailors
- US Sailing Level 1 (or equivalent course work)
- US Sailing Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent course work, preferred)
- Availability to travel to regattas with sailors
