Job Description
The Summer Camp Administrator (“SCA”) will be responsible for supervision of the sailing staff and will be expected to act as a role model and mentor for Sailing Instructors and Sailors. He or She will be actively involved in developing and adhering to summer lesson plans for each of the GLSS’s non-racing programs while maintaining a positive and safe learning environment. Summer Camp Administrator will oversee morning and afternoon class sessions, promote self-reliance, sportsmanship, teamwork and environmental awareness. SCA will ensure students’ safety and success while adhering to the Code of Conduct both on and off the water with the objective to instill a long-term love of sailing in our students. Summer Camp Administrator will report to the GLSS Executive Director.
Responsibilities include:
• Supervision of the sailing instructors and performing daily administrative duties
• Ensuring a safe, organized and educational learning experience for all participants
• Communicating with youth sailors’ parents and/or legal guardians to ensure proper information flow
• Clearly communicating with instructors and sailors
• Coordinating adult sailing classes and charters with the keel boat instructor
• Creating a weekly newsletter to be distributed to participating families as a means of encouraging clear communication while promoting engagement and retention
• Managing end of session boat parades, camp giveaways, certificates and progress reports
• Upkeeping of boats, equipment, and facilities
• Other responsibilities considered necessary to running a good sailing school
Job Requirements
• Proficient sailing skills, experience teaching kids in sailing programs and at least one year of a related supervisory experience
• First Aid and CPR/AED certification
• US Sailing Small Boat Level 1
A qualified candidate must be
• A self-starter who will expand and improve the current curriculum and work processes
• Motivated, enthusiastic, and comfortable working with adults and children
• Organized, with good communication and leadership skills
• Physically able to lift and move small sailboats and other equipment
• Licensed to drive a motor vehicle

Work Schedule
• Monday – Friday 8-4 with additional evening hours required for class planning, equipment maintenance, and administrative duties

Salary will be commensurate with your experience and qualifications. Provided housing is an option.
