Sailing Manager
The part-time Sailing Manager will work closely with the Director of Sailing to ensure the smooth execution of our junior sailing programs and will serve as a role model to Sailing Instructors and program participants. The Sailing Manager will work on land and on the water with all Sailing Instructors to maintain dock areas, dry sail area and campus with an environment of “ship-shape,” and team building which is expected of all staff.
This person will manage the use of equipment resources and work with maintenance employees to coordinate repairs. The Sailing Manager will act as an extra set of hands on the water, oversee the drop off/dismissal of the sailing program daily, and generally help to maintain order. The Sailing Manager will either work with Race Coaches to coordinate regattas logistics with students and parents or Maritime Adventures Director to coordinate sailing activities.
Summer Sailing Race Coaches
DBMS is looking for Opti/420 race coaches that can manage and expand our sailors’ development pathway through curriculum and course planning. Key responsibilities will include: Managing practice 5 days a week over an 8 week season and maintaining effective communication between the Sailing Director, parents and sailors. Coaches will need to travel to regattas (6-8 a season) with sailors which includes trailering sailboats and support boats. Additionally, all coaches must perform routine equipment and fleet maintenance.
Senior Instructor
As a part-time summer Senior Instructor you will be a role model and teacher for youth sailors and other instructors. Senior Instructors will work with a specific age group (5-9, 10-12, or 13+) and will coordinate and assist other instructors on the water. Duties include but are not limited to writing lesson plans, driving a safety launch/Coach Boat, cleaning and repairing equipment, supervising students on the water and most importantly - keeping your students and fellow instructors safe. Senior Instructors may also assist the Sailing Director with administrative functions and planning.
