420 Race Coach

The East Bay Sailing Foundation (EBSF) is looking for an experienced and passionate race coach to lead our 2025 420 Race Team. We value coaches who can effectively elevate sailors’ skills while fostering a positive, supportive environment. Our goal is to provide tailored, high-quality instruction that meets each sailor’s unique needs, helping them build both confidence and proficiency on the water. Join us in inspiring the next generation of sailors and nurturing their passion for the sport.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction on sailing techniques, boat handling, water safety and racing tactics.
• Oversee the safety of all participants, ensuring a secure environment both on the water and on land.
• Cultivate a positive, inclusive atmosphere that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and a lasting passion for sailing.
• Assist with daily program setup, fleet maintenance, and the upkeep of a clean and safe facility.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with students, parents, and staff to ensure smooth program operations.
• Serve as a positive role model, encouraging sportsmanship and seamanship.
• Represent EBSF in a professional, approachable manner to students, parents, and the wider community.

• US Sailing Level I Certification Required, Level II or III Preferred
• Current First Aid, Child and Adult CPR Certifications 
• Advanced knowledge of rigging, tuning and technique for Club 420
• Responsible individual capable of managing the team and fleet while traveling to regional regattas
• Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to engage and motivate students.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a safe learning environment for all students.
• Available to be based in Bristol, RI from mid-June to mid-August (housing options through EBSF can be discussed).
