Job Description

 Manchester Sailing Association seeks a 420 Race Coach for summer race coaches to join our team for the 2020 summer season and beyond. Plan now summer is around the corner.

The MSA Race Teams sail Optis and 420’s

MSA racers participate in many of the major New England regattas, so there is some travel beyond the local area. A knowledge of Massachusetts Bay regattas is a plus.

The 420 Coach is expected to prepare lesson plans for practices and:
Work in concert with the Opti Race coach.
Candidates should Teach effectively, compassionately and enthusiastically.
Communicate regatta and other information with parents and Director.
Work together in a fun, supportive, casual environment.
Address needs of the different levels and differentiate instruction.
Work with the novice and advanced racers on tactics and technique.
Collaborate with the other instructors on events and activities.
Be comfortable with small powerboats and seamanship.

The program runs from late June through late August [10 weeks] and these are full time summer positions. We are competitive with our compensation. Private lesson opportunities exist. No specific housing is available - but we will endeavor to match the right candidates with housing opportunities. We can not support visa requests.
Job Requirements
Applicants must possess US Sailing's Level 1 instructor certification with valid CPR and First Aid certifications.Candidates will be able to pass a CORI. In addition to sailing knowledge and experience, we are looking for enthusiastic, organized and team-oriented instructors. Ideal candidates will have a history of sail instruction and racing. Ability to drive a boat trailer is a plus.
