Job Description

General Responsibilities

  • Be a visible, active and enthusiastic proponent of Adult Sailing Programs, and all activities at the Club

  • Develop, implement and supervise all facets for the Club’s Adult Sailing Program and its curriculum

  • Assist Waterfront Director with the setup, breakdown, and maintenance of the Adult Sailing Program’s fleet of boats

Group Classes

  • Creating and implementing adult sailing curriculum for beginner, intermediate, and advanced level cruising and racing classes during the summer season

  • Offering, teaching, and coordinating instructors for group sailing classes throughout the summer season

  • Hiring any necessary staff for the summer season (and basing hiring decisions off of predicted needs)

  • Recording attendance stats and coordinating billing for group classes

Private Lessons

  • Offering, teaching, and coordinating instructors for private sailing lessons throughout the season

  • Coordinating keelboat availability between junior sailing, private lessons and charters

  • Recording attendance stats and coordinating billing for private lessons

Keelboat Charters

  • Coordinating keelboat charters

  • Maintaining online boat reservation system

  • Responding to emails with charter questions

  • Coordinating rigging help when needed

  • Coordinating billing for keelboat charters

On-Shore Education & Off-Season Planning

  • Scheduling and booking summer speaker series, on shore education component of ASP

  • Brainstorming areas for improvement and new programming

  • Brainstorming ways for continued outreach to membership at large (ex. Creating fleet e-mail lists for easy communication amongst fleets at EYC)

  • Coordinate with fleet captains to create educational and social opportunities for each fleet on the water as requested

Web Development & Office Responsibilities

  • Assisting Waterfront Director with maintenance and updates on “Waterfront” section of

    • Building adult sailing group class registration on website

    • Maintaining & updating adult sailing portion of

    • Maintain and update fleet pages as deemed necessary by fleet captains

  • Supporting Race Committee and Race Coordinator with web assistance, regatta page updates

  • Answering e-mails from club members in regards to programming, class schedules, and lesson coordination

  • Documenting attendance and keeping statistics for all classes, private lessons and keel boat charters and comparing year to year data

  • Presenting year to year data on member involvement and department income & expenses to committee chairs

  • Maintaining Adult Sailing cork board on Anchor Deck with sailing opportunities and on-shore education, and general member outreach

Job Requirements
Level One US Sailing Certification
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to create a calm, controlled, and comfortable environment in any keelboat
Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong leadership, mentorship, managerial, and organizational skills
