Job Description

Assistant Sailing Coach

· Assists Head Coach to organize/conduct practice sessions.

· Assists Head Coach in recruiting student-athletes.

· Assists in monitoring academic progress of student-athletes through academic advising and referrals.

· Assists the head coach in enforcing training rules and monitoring the conduct of student athletes when representing Washington College both on and off campus.

· Assists Head Coach to recommend student- athletes for awards.

· Ensures institutional compliance of the program by adhering to all policies and procedures of the NCAA, Centennial Conference and individual sport organizations.

· Responsible for other details of the sport or any assignment by the Athletic Director or Head Coach.

· Driving vans/vehicles to away contests when needed.

Job Requirements
Qualifications (Education, Skills and Experience):
· Bachelor’s degree preferred
· US Sailing Level 1 certification preferred
· Well organized and strong written and oral communication skills
· Ability to effectively promote the college and athletic experience.
o Ability to relate to and work with young adults and be a mature role model for young adults.
o Ability to relate to Head Coach and understand Head Coach’s philosophy.

· Well-developed interpersonal skills; ability to get along well with diverse personalities

· Ability to deal with adversity, highs and lows.
· Flexible schedule
o Willingness and ability to work weekday evening hours as well as weekends.
· Willingness and ability to drive van and car, including a driver’s license and driving record able to be insured on the College’s insurance.
· Ability to work outside in all forms of weather (heat, rain, etc.).
