Norfolk Collegiate School is seeking qualified candidates for an Assistant Sailing Coach to join our nationally recognized sailing program. The program has won several state championships and consistently qualifies for regional and national competitions in the fall and the spring.
This is a full-time lower school fourth grade teaching position. A bachelor’s degree in elementary education is required; K-5 teaching certification and/or a master’s degree is preferred. Ideal candidates will have teaching experience in a lower school setting, keen insight into elementary-aged children, and comprehensive knowledge of the intellectual, social, emotional and physical developmental needs of nine- to ten- year-olds. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to create a student-centered classroom environment and positive learning experience, differentiate curriculum to meet the needs of students, and foster intellectual curiosity and critical thinking skills. Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in working with students from a variety of backgrounds who possess a range of abilities and learning styles. This position requires collaborative work with others; therefore, this individual must be able to work effectively with colleagues and parents.
