We are seeking a full time Assistant Sailing Director beginning March 1st 2022. An opportunity to transition to a full time salaried position may be available following the summer season. This is a position with growth potential! The Assistant Director will support a variety of administrative functions, run a Sail Camp and will coach during shoulder seasons. The Assistant Sailing Director will help with fleet maintenance, planning, marketing and all aspects of program development when time allows.

GHYC Junior Sail, located in the Puget Sound fishing village of Gig Harbor, Washington State, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to providing quality sailing instruction and competitive race teams for children ages 6 to 18. We are a growing program with sailing operations from late February to November. We operate learn-to-sail programs for 300-400 children in Gig Harbor and for the Tacoma Yacht Club at Wollochet Bay (20 minutes away). We manage the Narrows Race Team (also jointly supported by GHYC Junior Sail and TYC Junior Sailing) composed of 40-50 sailors on four teams (Opti Green Fleet, Opti Champ, Junior Varsity and Varsity). We train teams from numerous local high schools and travel to regional and national regattas. Our well maintained and refreshed fleet includes 420s, FJs, Lasers, Optis, O’pen Bics and Cubes. We’re looking for a positive leader to join our team and help us reach our potential.

This position involves travel among GHYC Junior Sail facilities as well as travel to regional events. Must have own transportation. This position is flexible for the right candidate and can include an alternate starting date. Pay will be competitive, commensurate with experience and qualifications and range from $37,000-$45,000 per year or $18-$22 per hour.
