Job Description
Bay Shore Yacht Club is looking for both novice and experienced Sailing Instructors for the 2023 season. Located one hour by train from NYC on the Great South Bay of Long Island NY, BSYC has a rich sailing history with a jr. sailing fleet that includes Opti’s, Sunfish, 420’s, Mercurys and Flying Scotts. Instructors should have great communication skills, safety awareness, hard work ethic, creativity and a passion for sailing. Racing Coach experience is preferred. Instructors will have the opportunity to travel along the Great South Bay to Friday GSBYRA Jr. regattas, and conduct private sailing clinics to supplement income outside of junior program hours. Instructors report to the head instructor who reports to the Sailing Instruction Committee. The 8 week program runs 8:30 to 4:30, Monday through Thursday with Fridays reserved for travel to GSBYRA JR regattas or Club Races, mid June through mid-August. Prior to program start, there is one week of paid instruction training. The BSYC instruction team will work to provide a safe, fun and educational experience for our approximately 60 junior sailors. Certification requirements include U.S. Sailing Level 1 Certification (or higher), Safe Powerboat Handling, and a current CPR First Aid certification. Housing may be available and compensation is hourly.
Interested candidates should send a cover letter and resume to Karen Aries, BSYC Sailing Instruction at bsycjrsailing@gmail.com
