AS CAPTAIN OF ROZALIA PROJECT’S TRASH-HUNTING OCEANOGRAPHIC RESEARCH VESSEL, THE 60’ CUTTER RIGGED SLOOP AND RECORD BREAKING CIRCUMNAVIGATOR, AMERICAN PROMISE.
January 2023:: Rozalia Project invites applications for a seasonal full position of Captain.
Rozalia Project is a non-profit organization who leads expeditions aboard our 60’ Sailing Oceanographic Sailing Vessel, American Promise. Based out of Portland, Maine in the winter Kittery, Maine in the summer, our Expeditions are a combination of marine debris cleanups, solutions based science research and education. Our 2023 season will take us as far south as NYC and northeast throughout the Gulf of Maine in the Northern Atlantic Ocean.
Position Summary
The position is for 4 months of full-time work, involving approximately 10 weeks of programming in coastal waters. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, sailing as master of Rozalia Project’s Research Vessel, American Promise with all ancillary duties. Including but not limited to boat repair and maintenance, sailing, trip planning, navigation, daily safety checks of vessel, maintaining fuel and ship logs, sail training with onboard volunteers, tender operations and assisting program leaders with other mission related activities. There is opportunity to participate in cleanups, education and other mission related activities.
Salary
Salary commensurate with experience.
