Offshore Sailing School, founded in 1964 by Olympian, America's Cup Competitor, and Hall of Famer Steve Colgate has two positions available for marine professionals who love to teach sailing and boating. Courses taught are on Colgate 26 keelboats and 40-50' monohull and catamaran sail and power cruising yachts, at four resort locations in SW Florida and two in the British Virgin Islands. In business for 58 consecutive years, Offshore Sailing School provides courses for all levels, from learn to sail through passage making. Our clients are adults traveling alone or with family and friends. Most intend to start bareboat chartering, many plan to buy boats in the 30' to 60' range. Family courses include kids starting at age 7. Annual salaries include pay, monthly bonuses, retention bonus, and medical insurance. One apartment is available for 2 to share in Ft. Myers, FL if applying for Captiva Island position. Teaching sailing and boating at Offshore is fun! Candidates must have solid racing and sailing experience on one-design keelboats and extensive sailing and teaching experience on sail and power cruising yachts over 40'. Offshore Sailing School instructors are a team, sharing experiences, teaching techniques with pride in the fleet and shore facilities. A passion for teaching sailing, patience, and a caring attitude are extremely important attributes, as is the desire to move between locations and experience sailing and boating in different company locations. While the job location in this ad says Captiva Island, FL; candidates may also work in St. Petersburg, FL and in the British Virgin Islands. A USCG license, US Sailing or ASA instructor certification at minimum basic keelboat and preferably bareboat cruising - or the ability to achieve these quickly after training is completed are required.
