The Cedarhurst Yacht Club is seeking experienced and enthusiastic sailing instructors for the summer 2021 season. Founded in 1908, the Cedarhurst Yacht Club is situated on the south shore of Long Island, about 28 miles from Midtown Manhattan.
JUNIOR PROGRAM HEAD INSTRUCTOR: Full Time, June 14th - August 31st
CYC Head Instructor will be expected to have previous experience as a junior sailing instructor and coach, be incredibly safety conscious, organized, and demonstrate the ability to effectively manage a team. College age applicants with 3-5 years of instructor experience are preferred; however, all candidates with racing knowledge and demonstrated coaching/leadership ability are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have significant experience sailing/racing in the Optimist and 420 classes. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, leading the junior program, enforcing safety practices and instructor expectations on and off the water, guiding curriculum and daily lesson plans, and acting as the primary parent contact. This position will report to the Sailing Director.
JUNIOR SAILING INSTRUCTOR: Hourly, June 14th - Aug 31st
CYC Sailing instructors should be energetic, creative, organized, responsible, and hard-working individuals who are eager to share their knowledge and love of sailing. At least, 5 years of sailing experience expected in Opti's, Lasers, and/or 420's (racing experience a plus).
Requirements: US Sailing Level 1 certification, Powerboat License, and a valid CPR/First Aid certification prior to the first day of employment. All sailing staff members are expected to be responsible, safety conscious, exhibit strong sailing skills, and communicate well with both juniors and adults.
