The Cedarhurst Yacht Club is seeking experienced and enthusiastic sailing instructors for the summer 2024 season. Founded in 1908, the Cedarhurst Yacht Club is situated on the south shore of Long Island, about 28 miles from Midtown Manhattan.

CYC JUNIOR PROGRAM HEAD

INSTRUCTOR: Full Time, July 1- August 23

CYC Head Instructor will be expected to have previous experience as a sailing instructor and coach, be incredibly safety conscious, organized, and demonstrate the ability to effectively manage a team. College age applicants with 3-5 years of instructor experience are preferred; however, all candidates with racing knowledge and demonstrated coaching/leadership ability are encouraged to apply. Applicants with significant experience sailing/racing in the Optimist and 420 classes are preferred. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, leading the junior program including instruction and races, enforcing safety practices and instructor expectations on and off the water, guiding curriculum and daily lesson plans and acting as the primary parent contact. The instructor will have the opportunity to give private sailing/racing lessons to all CYC members. This position will report to the Sailing Director. Requirements: US Sailing Level 1 certification, Powerboat License, and a valid CPR/First Aid certification prior to the first day of employment. All sailing staff members are expected to be responsible, safety conscious, exhibit strong sailing skills, and communicate well with both juniors and adults.
