The Kauai Sailing Association is looking for a qualified and highly motivated chief sailing instructor. This person will oversee all our program activities including beginner, intermediate, and advanced sailing and racing programs for all ages as well as our sailing camps. The chief sailing instructor will be involved with the hiring and supervising of instructors and junior instructors. They will coordinate the activities with staff, volunteers, and marina management. Collecting and submitting information for billing is a part of this job as is basic fleet maintenance. The chief sailing instructor reports monthly to the Kauai Sailing Association Board of Directors.
The Kauai Sailing Association has a two story building on beautiful Nawiliwili Harbor in Lihue with active junior and adult sailing programs. Our fleet of boats includes Toppers, Lasers, 420's, El Toros, and an Olson30 (which races against five other Olson30s in the harbor) plus two coach boats.

*US Sailing Level 1 (or equivalent) is minimal. Level 2 or 3 is desirable.
*The ability to relate to and communicate with younger kids is crucial.
*Strong organizational and management skills with a focus on sailing programs (and a passion for sailing!)
*This is a part time job although we do sail year around.
*At least 20 hours a week is guaranteed. Hourly wage commensurate with experience.
*Medical insurance is provided.
*3 month probationary period.
*Temporary housing provided for 3 months.
