Job Description

 

Cal Adventures Youth Camp is seeking activity instructors to help us create a fantastic summer experience for our camp based out of Berkeley Marina.

 

Overview:

The Cal Adventures Youth Camp offers outdoors sports, recreation and leadership opportunities to hundreds of children, ages 8 – 17. Our programs, administered and taught by enthusiastic, caring and well trained staff, offer a wide range of sports and recreation activities designed to provide kids with opportunities to learn, make friends, build confidence, and have fun. These are temporary (May 27th through August 14 or 21, 2020) summer camp positions.

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Youth Program Manager, a Cal Adventures Activity Instructor will lead groups of 8-17 year olds in a specific skill area. Cal Adventures activities include sailing, sea kayaking, rock climbing, stand up paddleboarding, windsurfing, outdoor / environmental education and general outdoor recreation.


Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Salary: $18.59/hour

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:

Experience working with or leading a group of children between the ages of 8 – 17.
Sensory abilities (hearing, seeing, communicating, etc) necessary to perform the duties of the position.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching activities to children.
Experience supervising children’s programs.
Experience supervising staff.
Available for a significant length of the program (June 8 - August 14 or 21, 2020) and for staff trainings (May 29 - June 6).
Current certifications in American Red Cross (or equivalent) First Aid, CPR (child & adult), and AED (child & adult).
Current Driver’s License in good standing.
