The ideal candidate has a sailing background with experience managing teams. Is a organized self starter, motivated, flexible, professional and able to balance a variety of responsibilities.
The Sailing Director will work closely with the Vice Commodore and the LIYC Sailing Committee and report to the LIYC Board. The Sailing Director will oversee and be responsible for all aspects of the sailing program, class scheduling, staff development / management and communication.
Be involved with the interview and hiring process of approximately 10 + instructors for the summer program.
Has the ability to manage institutional budgets and report on financial matters.
Experience instructing and managing youth sailing program instructors.
Oversee and approve all instructors work hours.
Proficiency in developing emergency response protocols and insuring safety standards are followed.
Development, Coordination and execution of lesson plans and curriculum objectives for the summer program.
Hold regular office hours as needed.
Prepare and oversee communications ( emails, calendars, news letter / articles )
Knowledge and experience in sailboat rigging and powerboat operation.
Organize the Friday evening sailing series. ( June thru August )
Follow all California state laws regarding background checks for all employees and volunteers who will work with minors. Complete the California training and review of the provided employee handbook . This is required for all employees.
