Stamford Yacht Club is seeking; Director Big Boat Program
and Sailing Instructors for the 2024 Summer season. Our youngest sailors (7-8 year of age) are
taught on Ideal 18s and we have a comprehensive three level Opti program for
beginners and intermediate sailors in the morning. Our afternoon session is geared toward the
Laser, racing Optis and Adventure sailing.
We are looking for applicants who have a strong sailing background with racing
experience a plus. We offer a
competitive salary with overtime pay and a merit-based bonus, free lunch at our
snack bar, cool instructor shirts, and swag.
The position will require a US Sailing Small Boat Level 1 certification,
First Aid and CPR certificates, a Safe Boating certificate and Safesport
certification. The ideal candidate is
motivated to teach sailing, is patient with children, creative, and has a
positive attitude. Dates of employment are mid-June through mid-August. Working
hours for instructors are from 8am to 5pm for sailing instructors.
The Director of Big Boat Programs will co-lead our Junior
Big Boat program and help develop and teach a developing adult program with the
Sailing Director. Stamford Yacht Club
charters a J-105 which is available beginning in Spring and runs through late
Fall. Scheduling can be flexible during
the shoulder season. In Summer, the
Juniors will race Tuesday and Friday evenings, and either learn navigation or
practice racing on Wednesday nights. Junior
big boat and adult programming could extend into weekdays, and weekends with
additional weeknights on offer for adults. This is a great opportunity to earn
