Director of Sailing – Corpus Christi Yacht Club

Job Description:

The Director of Sailing is full-time, salaried position, coordinating a development program mainly concerned with youth sailors in the Corpus Christi area. Youth sailors primarily sail Optimists, Lasers, and 420s in local and regional regattas. The position includes coaching the Texas A&M CC Collegiate Sailing Team, teaching the occasional adult private sailing lesson, managing Club assets, and recruiting new sailors.


Job Requirements
Preferred Job Qualifications:
1. U. S. Sailing Level I Certified (Minimum) Level 2 or 3 Preferred
2. CPR and first aid training
3. Undergraduate degree
4. Driver’s license
5. Elite coaching and sailing experience at the national or international level
6. Experience with using and maintaining motor boats and trailers
7. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
8. Candidate must have a solid understanding of Racing Rules

Expected Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Year round duties and able to work weekends and evenings
2. Co-ordinate and continue development of the Youth Sailing Program
3. Coach and/or supervise youth and Collegiate Racing Teams
4. Attend Texas Sailing Association (TSA) Youth Circuit regattas with racing team
5. Full list of duties available to interested parties
6. Manage, maintain, service, and repair waterfront and boating assets
7. Provide assistance for Club regattas
8. Communicated effectively
9. Recruit new sailors
10. Perform other duties as directed

The Corpus Christi Yacht Club is a private club established in 1923 in downtown Corpus Christi.
