Founded in 2016, Lyford Cay Sailing (LCS) is a collaboration between the Lyford CayClub and Lyford Cay International School. We are a small, but growing organization.
Located on the western end of New Providence (Nassau), in The Bahamas, Lyford
Cay enjoys year-round sailing weather. New Providence is less than an hour’s flight
to Miami and has direct flights to a number of major cities such as London, Boston,
New York and Panama City.
LCS is seeking a full-time, year-round Director of Sailing. This will be an individual
who can deliver high-quality sailing instruction to children and youth as well as
coordinate sailing services for the Lyford Cay Club. Most of the coaching and
teaching will be at the developmental level, however, some of our sailors have gone
on to compete internationally.
The Director of Sailing should be an experienced and effective race coach, teacher
and programme manager. He or she should have instructor qualifications and
experience with both teaching and coaching sailing. Ideally, he or she will have
significant racing achievements of his/her own.
Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience and the
nature of the agreed-upon responsibilities. There is four weeks' leave in the summer.
Additional Programme Information
Junior classes are taught in Optimists, Lasers and RS Quests. The School programme
currently involves five after-school sessions per week, catering to beginner,
intermediate and Opti race teams, as well as Laser race teams. The coaching team
includes two additional teacher-coaches.
The adult Laser programme involves hosting six annual home regattas and running
a weekly dinghy race series on Sunday mornings. Club members also own four
Brenta 30’ keelboats that participate in four named keelboat regattas per year.
Additional private lessons are frequent, particularly in the busy mid-winter Club
season.
Depending on your existing commitments, the start date can be negotiated up until the early autumn of 2023.
