Job Description

Wayzata Sailing  is seeking an energetic, hard-working, organized sailing instructor who has a passion for teaching and inspiring the next generation of life long sailors, in competition and adventure. Coaching responsibilities would include spring and fall HS seasons, as well as choice of summer racing or instructional programs. Travel options are open to scheduling and interest of sailors and coaching staff. If you’re looking for a community focused, fun, and flexible position - we’re the spot. We want a candidate who is interested in developing the program along their interests.

Wayzata Sailing and the Mike Plant Community Boathouse are a nationally known small boat training center, in the heart of one of the most active sailboat racing communities in the US, Lake Minnetonka. Its facility is within a 15 minute drive of downtown Minneapolis, and is host to an expansive fleet. Our neighbors, Wayzata Yacht Club, maintain one of the largest racing fleets in the country - including Thursday night racing with over 130 keelboats. Wayzata Sailing itself is a 501c3 Non-profit sailing center, with a mission to create access to sailing for everyone. Equal access to both racing and basic instruction is our passion. We aim to create lifelong sailors in both the racing and recreational sailing worlds. We currently own over 150 watercraft from Optis and O’pen skiffs, to J22s and J70s, along with significant safety equipment. This allows us to offer a broad range of programming including Learn to Sail, Adaptive, Outreach, and of course - top flight racing instruction.

Position allows your (friendly) dog onsite, is salary based, with flexible and generous schedule in the offseason. Includes offtime access to windfoiling and sailing equipment, including racing at Wayzata Yacht club in our J22s or J70s.
