FIYC and HHC are located on Fishers Island, a 4.1 sq. mi. island located off of the coast of Connecticut, accessible by ferry from New London.
The yacht club has a rich yachting history and is one of the oldest yacht clubs in the United States, having been founded in 1886. The club continues to field robust junior and senior sailing programs. Active senior classes are the International One Design Class, and Bullseye.
The junior sailing program is a joint venture between Hay Harbor Club and FIYC with younger children sailing out of Hay Harbor and older children sailing out of West Harbor. Active junior classes include Optimists, Bics, and 420s. Over the years, the program has taught numerous college All-Americans, Olympians, and Olympic hopefuls.
The FIYC/HHC junior sailing program is seeking Sailing Instructors for the 2023 summer season. Instructors will report to Jonathan Farrar, who coaches the Northeastern University sailing team during the academic year and races his International One Design extensively on summer weekends.
