Job Description

The Fordham University Sailing Team is currently seeking candidates for an Assistant Sailing Coach position that will work part-time. Located in Bronx, New York, just a short train ride from midtown Manhattan, Fordham competes in the Mid Atlantic Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (MAISA) conference within the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA). Sailing is currently a club sport at Fordham that operates at the level of peer varsity programs.

The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the Open & Women’s Sailing Programs. This includes on-the-water coaching, developing student-athletes, recruiting, assisting with the maintenance of team assets (currently two fleets of FJs and 420Es), administrative duties, and coordinating with the Fordham University Sailing Team Executive Board on engagement and fundraising activities. This position supports all efforts to continue to attract the top sailors to Fordham University. The expectation is that the Assistant Sailing Coach will attend 1-2 practices per week and will travel with the team for regattas on weekends in-season.

Upon completion of working for 6-months full-time or 1-year part-time, the Assistant Sailing Coach will be eligible for substantially subsidized tuition from Fordham University’s Graduate programs including the School of Law.

The salary is commensurate with experience and is competitive with assistant coach salaries at varsity programs.

Candidates must submit a cover letter, resume, and two professional references.
