The Southport Yacht Club is located on Southport Island in Cozy Harbor with sailing activities on the beautiful Sheepscot River.  We are a family oriented club that has deep roots in the community.   This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for a developmental program that will teach the foundations of racing with an emphasis on enjoying the water.
Primary daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing lessons appropriate for all sailors in the group, providing opportunities for practice both on land and water, ensuring the safety of all sailors in a variety of conditions, collaborating with other instructors and the director, providing daily feedback to sailors, communicating (when necessary) with parents, and guiding sailors in developing an understanding of the racing rules of sailing. Additionally, the coach will organize and prepare sailors to participate in away regattas over the course of the summer. Regatta responsibilities include determining representation/participation in each event, initiating parent communication and meetings about upcoming events, leading the packing and unpacking of trailers and equipment, moving the coach boat to and from the event, and coaching at the event. The 420 coach will also serve as a senior instructor in the morning class for our young sailors. Working hours are 8:45 am to 4:15 pm, Monday through Friday.
