Job Description

Rush Creek Yacht Club (www.rcyc.org) in Heath Texas is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to fill the role of Head Sailing Coach.

Rush Creek Yacht Club was founded on the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard in 1969. Since then, RCYC has become a landmark for sailing in the Dallas area and the US. Our Youth Sailing Program is one of the only year-round programs in the Dallas area. RCYC is dedicated to promoting the principles and traditions of Corinthian yachting.

Our Sailing Program offers youth race team practice and consists of Optimists, Lasers, C420 and 29er sailors.

We have an excellent teaching environment with quick access to our sailing area.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary responsibilities will include coaching Optimist, ILCA (4&6) and C420 race team sailors.

The candidate should be a leader who is highly organized and self-motivated with excellent communication skills. A large part of this position includes communicating with sailors, members, and other staff respectfully and effectively. The position reports to the Vice Commodore of Education.

  • Collaborate with VC of education the schedule and content of practice

  • Travel with the racing team to local, state and national events (expenses paid)

  • Additional private coaching opportunities available

  • Manage assistant coaches and oversee the safety of our program

  • Promote RCYC sailing programs to members, schools and organizations

  • Adapt due to weather changes, needs of the program, and the students

  • Attend US Sailing Symposiums representing RCYC

Applicants who do not require a visa and/or are already authorized to work within the United States are encouraged to apply.

Competitive salary based on certifications and experience. Commission payments in addition to contracted salary available for private coaching/instruction.

Position is open and available to start immediately. This position could be considered an interim path to permanent employment at Rush Creek Yacht Club.

Job Requirements
US Sailing Level 1, 2, or 3 Certification
Safe Sport
CPR/First Aid Certification
Experience in sailing instruction for Optimist, ILCA and C420, ages 8 to 18.
High proficiency operating powerboats around dinghies and people in the water.
Sailing experience including rigging, tuning, maintenance, and basic repair.
Pass a background check and drug test.
