Job Description

The California Yacht Club (CYC) is seeking for a Full-Time Head Sailing Coach with an open schedule and ready to work over time when available. This position operates the Junior Sailing Team. The California Yacht Club Program is year round race program with a strong Opti, Laser, C420 and building 29er class. Candidates should be experienced working with all of these classes at a development and experienced race level. CYC is looking for a candidate with high enthusiasm, great communication, logistics skills, and motivation to continue to build a great team.

Our program utilizes the single-handed Optimist Dinghy for our younger participants and the double-handed Club Flying Junior or spinnaker equipped Club 420 for our older teen sailors. The program emphasizes focus on personal responsibility and the principles of Corinthian yachting excellence.

KEY RESULTS & TASKS

Work directly with assigned sailing staff and Junior Sailing Program Director in the instruction of junior sailors.
Work with juniors to enhance their sailing skills and ability to compete in racing events.
Observe and enforce all safety rules.
EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Certification – US Sailing Small Boat Sailing Level 1
Required: Ability to provide and accept constructive feedback in a positive and productive manner.
Required: Reliable and punctual attendance; arriving at work on time, prepared to work.
Required: Capable of working effectively independently with minimal supervision
Required: Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
