Head Coach Youth Sailing Program
Reports To
The Head Coach position will report to the President of the Board of directors and the Board of Directors in the Presidents absence.
Essential Functions
The Sailing Instructor position is a working hourly position responsible for instruction and teaching children on proper procedures of sailing, proper maintenance of sailboats and maintaining dock facilities.
Essential Characteristics
A self motivated and energetic individual that is willing to head up and grow a long-standing community program. This candidate will be an essential member of the leadership while participating in both sailing instruction and communicating their needs to the board of directors to help grow the fleet into a higher-level sailing center. They will be responsible for the Youth Summer Camp and from there developing these candidates into further sailing instruction to feed the future of advanced race competition sailors in our facility. Leadership skills are a must and the compassion to interact and develop young children into grown in this Corinthian Sport. A positive role model both on and off the water is a requirement. Eager to grow and implement this growth with fresh ideas will set a candidate apart. Strong communication skills a must!

Sailing Instructors and Coaches
Key Responsibilities
• Management of facility and equipment
• Maintain a budget
• Develop and coach youth race teams for Opti, 420 and Lasers
• Create and manage youth sailing schedule including regattas
• Develop a private coaching program
• Market and advertise to recruit new sailors
• Organization and implementation of summer camp including developing calendars, hiring staff and setting agenda
• Additional duties as determined by the board of directors to help develop the program and guide it into the future
Professional Requirements
• Level One Sailing Certification is Mandator and a Level 2 or higher is encouraged
• Current CPR & First Aid Certification
• Must be a competent operator of a power boat
• Must be a skilled sailor in Opti’s, Lasers, & 420’s
Professional Development Opportunities

• Modern free-standing youth sailing center with large indoor storage facility with maintenance room, office and classroom, private docks with floating dock and beach launch
• 2 420’s
• 2 Lasers
• 18 race Opti’s
• 22 Cube summer camp boats
• 2 Windmill class sailboats
• 3 coach boats (new coach boat coming in 2024)
• 3 Bic’s
Hours
20 - 40 per week
