Job Description
Seneca Sailing Academy is looking for a head sailing instructor. Seneca Sailing Academy is located just south of Seneca Yacht Club on beautiful Seneca Lake, opposite the city of Geneva. Geneva is the home of Hobart and William Smith College. The successful candidate will be an experienced sailor, who is motivated, hard-working, reliable, enthusiastic, diligent, energetic, competent, creative, able to mentor/coach 2/3 junior instructors, and able to work well with others. He/she should have excellent communication skills, be able to create and execute effective and fun plans, maintain safe practices, and above all, have a genuine passion for sailing and teaching kids. Previous experience racing would be beneficial. Our program runs 7 weeks: June 29-August 14. One week is focusing on getting 7-10 year old children sailing Optis. The other six weeks will focus on 9-17 year old sailors from beginners to advanced racing. There will also be required days on either end of the program for set-up and take-down. SSA has six 420 sailboats, 9 Optis, 3 lasers, and 3 Flying Scots. For more information please visit www.senecasailingacademy.org Pay will be $15- $20 depending upon experience.
Job Requirements
Must be over 19

US Sailing Level 1 Required (Level 2 Preferred)
Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
Willing to take further certification classes as needed
Ability to Drive in the US with a Clean Driving Record
Experience in High School and Collegiate Sailing Preferred
Have a desire to instill a love of sailing to both children and adults
Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills
Friendly, approachable and be able to relate well with children & teens
Positive role model for students & instructors
Ability to connect well with parents and other volunteers
Have a good sense of humor and ability to create a fun atmosphere
Responsible and safety conscious
