Sailing Director of Eastern YC

General Manager of Eastern YC

Job Description:

The Eastern Yacht Club (EYC) is seeking an experienced Head Instructor to execute its junior sailing camp. The program works closely with The Pleon Junior Yacht Club across the street and we avoid duplicate programming. For this reason the EYC sailing camp is a non racing introduction program for kids under 11. We are looking for a Head Instructor that specializes in introducing new sailors to the sport. The program is small, agile and the head instructor is encouraged to shape the program to accommodate the participants. The program has access to Sonars, Optis, and windsurfing equipment. Creativity is encouraged with this equipment with the goal of creating enthusiastic sailors. In addition to the Junior Sailling program the Eastern Yacht Club also runs a Junior Activites Camp. In this program campers rotate through sailing, tennis, and swimming. The head instructor will be one of the sailing instructors in the sailing aspect of junior activites camp.

Daily Schedule:

Junior Activites Camp M, W, F 830 -1200

Little Puffs (5-7 year olds) Tues, Thurs 830- 1200

Sailing Camp (8-11 year old) M-F 1-4

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that EYC Junior Sailing reaches a high standard quickly early in the summer and keeps this standard for the duration of the summer.
  • Fill the role of summer camp administrator. Work with the registration platform to ensure all documents and waiver are in order.
  • Maintain and improve the various summer sailing assets
  • Coordinate with other Marblehead yacht clubs to bring an enhanced social element to the smaller camp
  • Coordinate with Pleon to offer keelboat programming (for Pleon enrollees) with Eastern’s Sonars for kids who want to try keelboats.
  • Ensure that all EYC Junior Sailing is  conducted professionally

Benefits:

• Subsidized Housing off campus. Supplied housing will be on the campus of Salem State University (3.7 miles away). A bike can be provided but otherwise candidates are responsible for their own transportation.
