Old Cove Yacht Club (OCYC) is seeking a passionate and experienced sailing professional to serve as a Head Sailing Coach for our Junior Racing Program.
OCYC’s program has busy calendar of local and regional regattas. We are looking for a leader who can inspire and develop intermediate to advanced youth sailors, preparing them for success on the racecourse while fostering a lifelong love of sailing.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside the OCYC Junior Sailing instructors and leadership team to provide productive daily practices and provide racing team support at regattas.
- Manage and deliver all junior programming (Optimist, Laser, and, 420), including clinics, practices, and race team preparation.
- Provide technical instruction, race tactics, and performance development for sailors.
- Help coordinate logistics and team management at events.
- Support sailors’ progression toward elite competition and beyond.
- Collaborate with Junior Sailing leadership to maintain program excellence.
- Serve as a mentor and role model, reinforcing teamwork, sportsmanship, and growth.
- Help develop other instructors as racing coaches.
Qualifications
- Proven coaching experience with youth racing programs including Optimist, Laser and 420s.
- Strong knowledge of sailing, racing rules, and regatta management.
- Ability to help manage logistics for a competitive team.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with sailors, families, and staff.
- Commitment to fostering a safe, positive, and challenging environment.
