Job Description

Wickford Sailing Association is seeking a Head Sailing Instructor for our Junior Program based at Wickford Yacht Club on Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island. Our program offers classes in Prams, Optis, RS Quests and C-420s for kids from 7-17. The Head Instructor will be responsible for managing 4-5 other instructors as well as teaching. The Head Instructor will work closely with WSA President, Skip Whyte, a 5 time medal winning Olympic coach, who will assist in mentoring all of the instructors as well as doing some coaching.

The position is for a 10 week period mid-June through late August. The program operates for 8 weeks. The Head Instructor must have prior sailing program experience and be hands-on engaging STEM activites which are integrated with many WSA classes.

The Head Instructor is expected to work with the staff to create fun challenges for students that involve teamwork and leadership. Enthusiasm and self motivation are essential qualities.

The majority of classes are dedicated to developing sailing skills with racing integrated in the Opti and C-420 sections. WSA sailors participate in NBYA Regattas as well as occasional regional events.
Housing is not provided but WSA can assist in locating suitable accommodations.
