HEAD SAILING INSTRUCTOR - SALTAIRE YACHT CLUB

The Saltaire Yacht Club is looking for a Head Instructor to lead and manage a well-equipped sailing program located in a small island community of Saltaire,
located on Fire Island, NY.
The candidate must be 21years old and hold a (minimum) Level I US Sailing certification (preferably Level II), Red Cross certification, current motorboat license, etc. The Head Sailing Instructor will report directly to the Fleet Captain.
Includes organizing and maintaining the fleet of 2 - Boston Whalers, 5 - Optis, 3 - 420s, 3 - Lasers, 4 - Sunfish and 2 - Hobie Getaways. Organizing the Junior Sailing Program with Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Lesson Programs, and Sunday Club Racing. The Head Instructor will oversee 4 instructors and guide them to advance their boat maintenance and teaching skills. Collect hours for payroll. Organize the summer calendar and weekly schedules for sailing classes, away regattas, private lessons and Open Sailing. This includes staffing the Sailing Shed for Open Sailing on weekends.
Employment will start on Monday, June 17th 2024 and run through Labor Day, September 2nd 2024. Lessons are afternoons Monday-Thursday. Friday-Saturday open sailing for all club members. Every Sunday Club race in the afternoon.
This is an ideal position for candidates living on the South Shore of Long Island. We sail in the Great South Bay.
On island housing can be provided based on availability. Commuting to the island with the club powerboat can be arranged.
Additional instructors are also needed.
