Job Description

Severn School, located in Severna Park , Maryland is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Sailing Coach for the 2024-25 season. The Severn School Sailing Program is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Association (MASSA). The Assistant Sailing coach will work closely with the head coach and help supervise the boys and girls in the sailing program. The Severn School Sailing Team, winner of 6 National Championships and countless District podium finishes and wins, has a rich history in MASSA and ISSA and has helped develop countless student-athletes for success in college sailing and beyond. Along with dinghy sailing, we are actively pursuing programs in singlehanded sailing, keelboat racing, and high performance sailing, including skiffs and foiling. Job Requirements

This is a part-time position; there is growth potential.

Timing is fluid and will work to accommodate the right candidate. Severn School has an active, competitive sailing team, with full varsity and JV programs. Our team sails both in local events, and work to compete at the national level. This position has flexible timing, please inquire and learn more about this great opportunity! The team sails at our own venue on the Magothy River in Severna Park, less than 3 miles from campus. We sail competitively in the fall and spring seasons. The assistant coach will work with 2 other coaches and help develop new sailors, along with coaching top youth sailors in fleet racing and team racing.

Severn has 12 420's, 6 FJ's, and 3 coach boats. This is a part-time position and offers flexibility, usually 4-5 days a week coaching, and also includes some weekend coaching.

Some growth potential exists, and the successful applicant will have use of Severn's athletic facilities and gym, along with potential opportunities to work on campus as well. We are looking for someone with demonstrated skill in dinghy sailing, and coaching experience.
