Job Description

The Apprenticeshop
Community Sailing Instructor Positions 2021 Season (Late May-Early Oct)

The Apprenticeshop is a non-profit school for traditional boatbuilding and seamanship with a mission to inspire personal growth through craftsmanship, community and traditions of the sea. We believe that all people are capable of building and sailing boats, and that in the process, resilience, self-confidence and resourcefulness are developed. The educational experience at the Apprenticeshop is truly hands-on, with the majority of learning happening through direct experience rather than through traditional class-based teaching. We embrace the idea that there isn’t one right way to build or sail a boat. We teach by providing opportunity for discussion and group problem-solving, as well as room for innovation and creative thinking

Our waterfront programs provide an opportunity for youth and adults, regardless of skill level, to get out on Rockland Harbor in our traditional ‘Shop-built vessels as well as modern boats. We are looking for additions to our team who bring a positive attitude to their work and will be professional, friendly, team-oriented, flexible, and willing to pitch in wherever necessary.

We are hiring for two different community sailing instructors for the summer of 2021. These positions are seasonal with compensation starting at $18/hour.
